welcome to the international conference on “plant diseases and resistance mechanisms“!
the green revolution and a dramatic increase of major crop yields during last 50 years have saved millions of lives in third world countries and for the first time in history, humankind understood and saw clear evidence that modern science and technology can feed the growing world population. modern crops are mainly intensive, high yield with good resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses, however, in some regions up to 30 yield are lost every year because of diseases or other stresses. therefore, understanding the mechanisms of resistance to plant diseases is one of the hottest areas of modern plant science. the main aim of this conference is to bring researchers from academy and industry to present and evaluate the most recent advances in understanding and combating plant diseases and to define new frontiers in this field.
international conference "plant diseases and resistance mechanisms" to be held in vienna on february 20-22th , 2013 will provide leading academy and industry scientists a platform to communicate recent advances in plant-pathogen interactions and an opportunity to establish multilateral collaborations.
